The 2nd Annual Northeast OS Chapter Meetup
The 2nd Annual Old Sanawarian Northeast Chapter was held on 29th November 2019 at the Guwahati Address Hotel,Assam. It was yet another successful event with a great turnout of Old Sanawarians who were travelled all the way to Assam to attend this second chapter. Notable attendees included the Headmaster – Mr. Vinay Pande, the current OS President Maj. Gen. Kulpreet Singh and the Ex-OS President Justice Rajive Bhalla. A lively locale that added to the chatter from batches as early as 1962 right to the current year. We appreciate Renu Chahil (VGD 1962) in making the trip to Guwahati to attend this wonderful event. The youngest attendee Tanmay kharmarbha(VBD 2019). Tanmay had made his way from Australia the night before where he is pursuing marine biology. We promptly put him to task to register all attendees to the event to keep the school tradition running (what are juniors for!!)
The Headmaster spoke about the numerous chapters he has attended in the last four years. We would like to thank him for his support as we all know he has been instrumental in making these OS chapters come alive in recent years. He stated the importance of increasing the school footprint in order to make a Sanawar a World Class Institution. He reminisced about meeting his old students during these chapters which was great to hear. As we are all aware Mr. Vinay Pande will be moving on as the Headmaster soon and we will be sad to see his presence reduce in future chapters. He ended his speech by stating he is what he is because of Sanawar. We can all agree with the famous Rudyard Kipling – ‘Send him to Sanawar and make a man of him’ is downright true.
OS President Maj. Gen. Kupreet Singh who took the floor next spoke about the importance of having a diverse population of students from all over India. In recent years Sanawar has lost its population of students who come from North-East. He spoke about his batch before and after where there was always a healthy mix of people from all over India. He spoke about the major and very impressive infrastructure changes which has recently taken place such a Peacestead. He thanked all the donors who have kindly supported this change and reiterated that donations are very important in order to compete with other institutions in India and around the world.
The 2nd Annual Old Sanawarian Northeast Chapter was a wonderful evening with around 30 attendees , and we would like to thank each and everyone who attended and supported this chapter.
