Ricky Phoolka, we met you when we were nine
We were best friends in no time
Together we were a team,
cricket, football, always mean
Massive joora, but the girls found you just fine!
Your mum’s Pinnis, delicious and so fine
Privileged we were to share that love
They will make you big and strong she said,
So we always ate some right before bed
Spirit of an explorer,
took to adventure like none, and above all
We remember your photography,
always exemplary
Bikes, trucks, cars anything went,
for you no obstacle too great to bend
Stand-up guy, ever-loyal friend,
and a proper fighter to the end
Mistakes some, but corrections quick,
led you to be a successful Rick
Free spirit like the air and sea
Mountains and deserts you conquered them all
Our times we will always cherish and remember
Seems like a second ago, memories so real,
they burn like embers
We know you’re somewhere there,
your spirit still free
And forever and always shining down on us
We think of your family and a life far too short
The grief they feel we cannot comprehend,
and we keep thinking of you our friend
Now all we can do is pray for you,
while we know you smile on us from there
So bitter to bear in the end,
for now, nothing else to say but… …..
farewell my friend! ~ Karan Bolaria, Rajdeep Sekhon, Haripal Nakai
