Obituary - Meghna Patel OS ‘93

Dr Meghna Patel (Maggie) my best friend for 38 years, my sister my confidant, Maasi and god mother to my kids and a good friend to Rahul (sach).

Her compassion for all humans and animals was limitless, she had a strong exterior but on the inside was a heart of gold willing to help everyone. She graduated from Sna in 93 with arts as her subject. Went back to America and took sciences and finally graduated from the university of Templeton with a phd in pharmacy.

She was one of the most knowledgeable people I ever knew wether it be politics or answering medical question on quora.com … adopting dogs from shelters in the US who had no hope left. She was a great aunt to her nephews and nieces, a good sister and sister in law, a devoted daughter and most of all my first and forever best friend.

Anything to expand her knowledge could keep her up for nights in a row. Very fond of eating paneer and drinking thums up when she visited India. She had the most infectious laugh ever, if you heard it you would just join in.

In the end Maggie, help us all move on, not to forget you but to remember you more and more fondly. ~

Such a shocking news to hear about the demise of such a wonderful person. I would like to share some words about Maggie. When I lost my husband last year Maggie kept in touch with me for almost six months. I agree that physically she was not present with me but even second or third day she would message me or call me and enquire about me and my daughter's she was such a wonderful and loving person even during school year's may her soul rest in eternal peace and may God give her family all the strength to bear the loss of such a wonderful person. ~

Maggie was the most amazing friend you could have - funny , Loving and ahead of her times . She had the most infectious laughter and eyes that had a naughty sparkle. Through her years in sanawar - we called her “ chut but deadly “ - she was quite a fire brand with a mind of her own.

She taught me to how share …in those years - her tuck was full of fancy stuff and she had a big heart. She loved Paula Abdul and the upper dorms would pulsate with the latest music…. Music that was yet to come to India.

I loved her dearly and she will always be in my heart … always. How I wish I had spent more time with her at our 25th founders… we were working on planning a girls trip - will still do that and have a glass of wine and remember our dearest Maggie and cherish the times we spent together. ~

Meghz, you are not gone, but have become part in all of us !! It’s us who have lost our part which belonged to you !! We have lost some cheer, charm, smile and warmth which was due to you in all of us !!

You will not be missed but cherished, as you will be integral part of our lives !! Take care wherever you are and see you next.

The life evolves around 9 planets and 3 Tridevs / Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh) which are primordial. So you are and will always be present in everyone of batch of 93. Cheers to your presence in our life !! ~

So heartbreaking to read what happened and for her to be taken so young. She will live on not only through those people who have been helped through her organ donation, but through all our memories too. ~

Maggie as we fondly called her was a force to reckon with. Ever so sweet and helpful with a laugh you could hear from a mile away.

I had lost touch with her after we passed out of school in 93. We met again on our 25th reunion as if no time had passed since we last spoke. We stayed in touch, now I wish I would have written/spoken more often.

Our beloved Maggie will not only live on in our hearts and memories but also in all the people who benefited from her selfless act of organ donation. Even in death she helped others.

Please raise your 🍷 to our Maggie. May she never be forgotten and forever live in our hearts.

Cheers to you Maggie. We all will miss you. ~

O Maggie still remember your smile

That radiated from a mile

Gregarious and vivacious

You were so gracious Your memories shall live on

Cherished by one and all

Somewhere in the moonlight or sunlight

And all things bright

We shall remember you shining like a star

Residing in the deep recesses of our heart

Though far apart

Till we meet you on the other side

May God keep you by his side 🙏 ~
